วันนี้พี่หวาย ติวเตอร์เอ็นคอนเส็ปท์ มาพร้อมกับคำศัพท์น่าสับสนอีกกลุ่มนึง อย่างคำว่า advise กับ advise เนี่ย เขียนแบบไหนถึงจะถูก? คำตอบก็คือ… ถูกทั้งคู่ แต่ Part of Speech หรือชนิดของคำ จะแตกต่างกัน ซึ่งมีหลักสังเกตง่าย ๆ ก็คือ ถ้าคำศัพท์ลงท้ายด้วย -ce มักจะเป็น Noun ในขณะที่ -se มักจะเป็น Verb

advice (n.) คำแนะนำ
advise (v.) แนะนำ
และยังมีคำอื่น ๆ ในกลุ่มนี้ที่ใช้หลักการเดียวกันด้วย เช่น
device (n.) อุปกรณ์
devise (v.) ประดิษฐ์, คิดค้น
แต่ก็อาจมีข้อยกเว้นได้ ซึ่งขึ้นอยู่กับว่าเราใช้ภาษาอังกฤษแบบ American English หรือ British English เช่น คำว่า practice / practise ในอเมริกาจะใช้ practice เป็นทั้ง Noun และ Verb ในตัวเดียวกัน แต่ในอังกฤษจะแยกคำกันตามกฎข้างต้น

practise (v.) ฝึกฝน
เพื่อความชัวร์ว่าเข้าใจจริง เราลองมาทดสอบตัวเองกันหน่อยดีกว่า
